Kaduna State College of Education Orders Students to Resume for 2026/2027 Session

Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, has directed students to resume academic activities for the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic session and comply with the institution’s attendance requirements. The directive was contained in a circular dated September 25, 2026, issued by the Directorate of Academic Planning and Monitoring and circulated through the Deans of Schools to Heads of Departments, lecturers and students. The college said first-semester academic activities have commenced, making regular participation important for students as the new session gets underway.

According to the academic notice, first-semester registration is scheduled to begin on October 11, 2026, while lectures are expected to commence on October 19, 2026. Students are therefore expected to complete the necessary registration processes and prepare to participate in lectures and other academic activities from the scheduled dates. The directive covers students participating in the first-semester programme and reinforces the college’s expectation that students should be available for academic activities rather than remain away after the commencement of the session.

A major part of the notice is the college’s reminder that students must maintain at least 75 per cent attendance to qualify to sit for examinations in their courses. The requirement covers lectures, practical sessions, tutorials and continuous assessments. This means attendance is not limited to classroom lectures alone, and students are expected to participate consistently in the different academic activities attached to their courses throughout the semester.

The college also outlined consequences for students who fail to meet the 75 per cent requirement. A student who does not attain the required attendance level in a particular course will not be allowed to take the examination for that course and will be deemed to have failed it, leading to a carry-over. The institution further stated that poor attendance may result in the loss of Continuous Assessment marks and denial of access to the school portal for examination card printing and course registration.

To enforce the attendance policy, Deans, Heads of Departments and course lecturers have been directed to monitor students’ participation using attendance registers. The arrangement places responsibility on academic units to keep records of attendance while students are expected to ensure that they meet the required threshold. The college has advised students to take the directive seriously and comply with the attendance requirements during the session.

Students of Kaduna State College of Education should therefore take note of the October 11 registration date and October 19 lecture date as they prepare for the 2026/2027 first semester. Regular participation will be particularly important because the 75 per cent attendance rule is tied directly to examination eligibility. Students should also monitor official college announcements for any subsequent changes to the academic schedule or other requirements affecting the session.
