UNIMAID Opens 2026/2027 Hostel Booking Portal for Students

The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has released an update on its hostel online booking exercise for students seeking accommodation for the 2026/2027 academic session. The latest notice listed on the university’s student-related noticeboard is dated September 30, 2026, indicating that the hostel booking exercise has commenced for the new academic session. Students who intend to secure university hostel accommodation are expected to follow the approved booking process and complete the necessary steps within the period announced by the institution.

The current booking exercise is being handled online, with UNIMAID maintaining a dedicated hostel portal for undergraduate students. The portal provides a login interface where students can access their accommodation information using their university credentials. UNIMAID’s hostel system also contains instructions for students whose automatically revoked bed spaces need to be addressed, showing that students are expected to monitor their booking status after completing the process.

The latest development follows an earlier extension announced by the university for the 2026/2027 hostel booking exercise. A notice issued through the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs stated that the booking exercise would commence on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 8:00 p.m., while the revised closing date was set for Saturday, October 31, 2026, at midnight. The extension was intended to provide eligible students with additional time to complete their hostel booking and payment processes.

Students should therefore pay attention to the booking deadline and avoid waiting until the final hours before attempting to complete their applications. UNIMAID’s previous hostel procedures have required eligible students to obtain the necessary hostel identification or PIN and complete the accommodation process online. The university has also previously used online systems for student registration and other administrative services, making it important for students to use the credentials and information associated with their official university records.

Students who have already secured a bed space should also check their booking status and retain any relevant payment or reservation records. UNIMAID’s hostel portal warns that automatically revoked bed spaces may be reallocated, while students who have paid for a revoked reservation are directed to submit their payment teller and reservation slip to the Students Affairs Division or use the designated complaint channel. This makes it important for students to keep evidence of completed transactions and promptly resolve any booking issue through the university’s approved channels.

Eligible students seeking accommodation for the 2026/2027 academic session should complete the hostel booking process within the announced period and rely on UNIMAID’s official platforms for any further changes. With the booking exercise now underway from September 30, 2026, students should check their portal accounts, follow the instructions provided by the university and ensure that their accommodation arrangements are completed before the October 31, 2026 deadline.
